Some Activities

Some of the activities we explored with visiting students from Burwood East and Travancore School was food, sports and art. The students worked together to make a communal lunch for everyone to enjoy, also making damper using indigenous salt bush to spice things up.

They then worked together and supported each other in learning to play some indigenous games. The first game we played was called Koolchee and the second game was Kolap, both involving skill and coordination. We finished the day making bush toys. A technique we learned off Aunty Marg during our Warin-bik program.

The bush toys were made using clumps of straw that were manipulated into the shape of a desired animal and wrapped tightly with yarn or wool to hold its shape. Students and staff reflected on the activities that they enjoyed working and learning together.

Your mission as an ally educator is to...

As we come into a seasonal change, it is your mission to identify which of the Wurundjeri seven seasons it currently is and bring this into your teaching this term. You can find this calender on the staff meeting table or in the CCC folder on one drive
