School Highlights

School highlights were Ron Murray's story sharing by the fire, the celebratory roast/bush cook event and spending time with First Nations members of the community throughout the program. A special thanks to Aunty Marj for jumping on last minute and running an incredible bush toy session, so many fantastic toys were made. Also a big thank you to our KESOs Carmen and Zeta for their support on program, they brought a calming presence that was much appreciated and their connections with the community really helped make the program what it was. Lastly, thanks to all Blackwood staff involved for coordinating such an interactive and engaging program this year. We are so excited for Warin-bik 2025!

Staff PD

We are excited to have Uncle Ron Murray come back to Blackwood for a staff PD on Tuesday 11th May. It will be a great oppertunity for Blackwood staff to engage in Rons storytelling for personal learning and growth!

Something to listen to on your drive home!

The Deadly Dose podcast on Spotify brings you weekly yarns with people working in Aboriginal Education. Each episode looks deeply into one aspect of Aboriginal Education, helping to inspire educators by listening to mob and those working with mob on programs and initiatives to bring culture into learning communities.

Acknowledgment of Country

It has been so special to be able to use language in our Schools Acknowledgment to Country, thanks to the approval from Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation for ongoing use. We will continue to use these phrases within our acknowledgment but also throughout our curriculum!
