Communication is a fundamental life skill, consequently opportunities for students to continue to develop such skills is embedded within our whole teaching and learning program.

We acknowledge that students with special needs will be required to closely cooperate with a diverse group of people, separate from family, careers and friends during their life.
Learning programs at Blackwood provide ongoing opportunities, within a supportive environment, for students to develop skills and knowledge that allow them to participate safely and appropriately with others.
- Conflict Resolution
The ability to resolve conflict when it arises is a key aspect of ‘Learning for Life’. Programs at Blackwood create situations that promote students to develop strategies which allow them to not only successfully work with their peers and staff, but also regulate their emotions, and use appropriate language and behaviour to deal with conflict. - Respect
Respect is one of our 4 core values at Blackwood. All students are encouraged to continue to develop a deeper understanding of the importance of respecting themselves, others and the environment through their learning programs.
